Service Description

6 classes/3 hrs Wednesday Mornings 8am - 11am March 1st ~ April 8th 2026 This is my first self run course on painting landscapes in acrylics. I will make each class as comprehensive as I can muster which includes but is not limited to the following. ~Introduction to the basics of painting with acrylics and using colour. ~Painting techniques and learning a verity of styles. ~A bit of art history and how you can use ideas of the past to create your own voice. ~Live demonstrations, because watching with your own eyes in person can teach you a lot. ~A few timed practice runs on small surfaces. ~Different ways to get started on that scary blank canvas. ~Picking your own reference and how to use it. ~Using brushes and other tools. ~Coming out of the class with one or two paintings your proud of. That is my goal. The supplies you will need ~A canvas, any size, however, please keep in mind time constraints. I suggest a professional one. ~A small pad of thick mixed media paper that can hold paint and water well. Preferably wire bound or paper you can take out of the book. ~Brushes - One big flat brush - One medium flat brush - One small flat brush - One medium Filbert brush -One small filbert brush -One small round brush for detailing Paint Please note, I use a very large colour pallet myself. I will list the main needed colours and then some suggestions. Van Dyke Brown (Golden) Manganese Blue Hue (Golden) or Brilliant Blue in Liquitex basics Titanium White large size (Golden) or (Kroma Acrylics) Quinacridone Red (Golden) or (Kroma Acrylics) Burnt Sienna (Golden) or (Kroma Acrylics) Phthalo Blue (Golden) or (Kroma Acrylics) Hansa Yellow Opaque (Golden) or Hansa Medium Yellow (Kroma Acrylics) Raw Sienna (Golden) ~Naphthol red medium (Amsterdam) or Benzi Orange (Kroma Acrylics) for painting your background a warm colour first or using warm tones in your trees. Optional Colours Note: these are colours that will add to your ability to experiment, you can go without. ~Payne's Grey (Golden) or (Kroma Acrylics) ~Cerulean Blue (Golden) or (Kroma Acrylics) ~Cadmium Yellow (Golden)or (Kroma Acrylics) ~Cadmium Red (Golden) As for a paint pallet I do have disposable ones, however, it might be a good idea to invest is a wet pallet. Paper towel is a must, or a rag that you bring. I have a few easels for specific size canvas but I would suggest bringing your own. Find affordable paint at kromaacrylics.com. They ship to you :)
